Our school holiday program is aim at children aged 7 – 15 years old whether they are new to sailing or are sailing their own boat, there is fun to be had for everyone. Fully supervised by qualified and experienced instructors, our holiday course will give your child a fantastic week out on the water, enjoying the summer. The program focuses on learning though sailing games in a safe and supportive environment, spending minimal time in the classroom.
Beginners will learn the basics of sailing, safety and build their confidence on the water, whilst more advanced students will develop their boat handling and seamanship skills and have a fun introduction to racing. The course will be run in easy to sail plastic Optimists (Optis) however kids are more than welcome to sail their own boats.
Our courses follow Yachting New Zealand’s Dinghy Learn to Sail Scheme and upon completion each student will receive certification with YNZ. Our courses are fun, safe and fully supervised by qualified and experienced instructors.
With Tauranga’s stunning harbour location and sea breeze, there isn’t a better place to learn to sail, so don’t let the kids sit in front of the TV all holidays, get out and get sailing.
Courses are a week long and run throughout the School Holidays, Monday to Friday from 9am – 3pm.

Tauranga Yacht & Power Boat Club Sailing School
Here at Tauranga Yacht and Power Boat Club we aim to make being on the water fun, enjoyable and accessible to all. Located at the end of Sulphur Point we provide a range of sailing and windsurfing courses for all ages and abilities. The stunning views and gentle sea breeze of Tauranga Harbour creates the best possible environment to learn to sail.
Our YNZ qualified instructors follow the basic skills syllabus provided by Yachting New Zealand with excellent equipment provided by BoPSAT.
