Event description

Description

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Owing to the developing outbreak of Covid-19, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the Hui for 12 months until May 2021.

We have suspended registrations, and will re-open registrations on 1 January, 2021. Those who have already registered will have their booking transferred to the new date. If you prefer to be refunded, please email enquiries@sieba.nz

We apologise for any inconvenienced caused by this decision, but believe it is the responsible action to protect you, our delegates, and your school communities and families.

WELCOME TO THE 2021 SIEBA HUI

  • Keynote speakers who will challenge and expand our views of what gives meaning to our lives and our work
  • Facilitated workshops on sustainability and innovation, marketing, and developing cultural competence school-wide
  • Facilitated workshops specifically for primary schools on topics such as orientation, supporting parents and teachers, marketing and Code of Practice requirements
  • Dedicated sessions for accommodation staff

  • The Hui Awards Dinner with entertainment by singer/songwriter, Shaun Preston

  • Exhibition by a range of commercial partners with services to offer schools and their international students
  • The auctioning of the custom-created and beautiful artwork which forms the theme-image for the 2021 Hui

For the full programme, visit the Resources section of the SIEBA Hub

ART AUCTION

Keynote speaker, Claire Beynon, Dunedin artist and writer, has created a special artwork for the SIEBA Hui, 2021. This artwork, Verbs to Live By (iii), forms the theme image for our Hui, and the original work will be auctioned on day 2, with proceeds going to a very special cause which will be revealed at the Hui. The auction will take place just before lunch, and after Claire's keynote address, so come ready to bid, and you could be the lucky owner of this beautiful painting.

DRESS COMFORTABLY

This year's Hui includes workshop sessions, where delegates will be moving around the conference spaces. Dress comfortably and wear shoes you can stand and move in for sustained periods without discomfort.

HUI AWARDS DINNER WITH ENTERTAINER, SHAUN PRESTON

One of the highlights of the 2018 Hui was the Hui Dinner-Dance with exceptional entertainer, Shaun Preston. For those who missed it, Shaun Preston is back in 2021. The International Education Leadership Awards will be presented at the Dinner. Please visit the SIEBA Hub to make nominations.

SUSTAINABILITY:

This year's Hui will be as environmentally friendly as we can make it. Conference information will be available on an event app 2 weeks prior to the Hui.

What can you do to reduce your attendance footprint?

  • Offset your air miles
  • Join with others to share rides to/from the airport
  • Go paperless: Use the Event App - don't print the programme. We will provide a programme card
  • Book accommodation within walking distance of the venue where available
  • Share rides with others if accommodation is not walking distance
