About this event

What is a 3D printer?

A 3D printer is a rapid prototyping machine that creates physical objects by laying down many thin successive layers of material. It is an example of additive manufacturing.

Before you book

Please ensure that you have completed the following two steps in Canvas before you book this practice session:

1. Complete our online orientation.

2. Complete our online preparation module for the 3D printer (you will need to have completed online orientation to gain access to this page.)

Learn more about our two-part equipment training process.

About this practice session

You will be provided with an in-person walkthrough of how to use the 3D printer by our Maker Space Coordinator or a Creative Technologist. The purpose is to ensure that you have a practical understanding of how to operate the equipment. Once our Maker Space Coordinator is satisfied that you are able to safely operate the equipment, you will be free to use it whenever you wish.
