Organiser APNIC Foundation with support from APNIC, CCP (DFAT) and the Samoa MCIT

Organiser of 3rd Regional Workshop - Building cyber security capability for CERTs/CSIRTs in the Pacific

This workshop was organized by the APNIC Foundation with support from APNIC and Samoa's Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, and funding from the Cyber Cooperation Program (Australia's Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade - DFAT).

The APNIC Foundation seeks to advance education in technical, operational and policy matters relating to Internet infrastructure in the Asia Pacific. This workshop is part of the Foundation's efforts to raise awareness of, and build capacity in cybersecurity in Pacific economies, as part of a project "Raising Cyber Security Capability and Awareness: A Secure and Resilient Internet Infrastructure for Development in the Pacific” funded by the Cyber Cooperation Program of the Australian Government's Departmenbt of Foreign Affairs (DFAT).

The Internet registry for the Asia Pacific, APNIC, provides the technical support needed by the project. APNIC is an open, member-based, not-for-profit organization, whose primary role is to distribute and manage Internet number resources (IP addresses and AS numbers) in the Asia Pacific region’s 56 economies. APNIC helps build essential technical skills across the region, supports Internet infrastructure development, produces insightful research, and is an active participant in the multistakeholder model of Internet cooperation and governance.

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology facilitates, leads and implements the Government of Samoa's vision for Communications development. MCIT mission is to provide affordable, reliable and secure communications for all.

DFAT's Cyber Cooperation Program is designed to boost the resources behind Australia's cyber capacity building efforts in the Indo-Pacific. Projects funded by the Program encompass the full spectrum of cyber affairs, as articulated in Australia's International Cyber Engagement Strategy.
