Event description

Description

Welcome to AFQY 2018!

A Few Quiet Yarns is the no-selling network where you can meet people and create genuine relationships which business can flow off the back of - come and "Get to know a person the person, not their suit" and make genuine connections.

This event presents the opportunity for all good people to form a social or personal relationship where you can understand the 'cut of a persons jib'. There is a no-selling rule which includes not giving your card out unless you've been asked for it; no one wants to be hawked widgets, they want to have intelligent and fun discussions with good people - so come have a yarn, there is always plenty to talk about!

Event Format:

  • 5.00pm: Doors open - ensure you bring your ticket to gain entry please - Find Ryan, scan your ticket, get a drink
  • 5.30pm: Event begins, Bar Tab is open (see tab details below under venue for food and beverages)
  • 6.00pm: The first round of introductions for everyone in the room
  • 6.30pm The second round of introductions
  • 7.00pm The Third round of introductions
  • 7.30pm The closing round of introductions, tab reverts to a cash bar.

Community (Sponsors) Supporters:

  • Nicholas Glanfield returns as a sponsor, with the Stellar Consulting team... I don't think all of them fit on his Fat Bob Harley, but it's great to see them return for more good yarns - thanks for your support.
  • Liston Pinto joins Datagate heading up ANZ representation with CEO Mark Loveys, as they continue their support of the AFQY Community - it will be Liston's first AFQY, a great way to get started mate!
  • Rudi Hefer from Solarix, a motivating force behind AFQY going nationwide with his first in support, a great guy and our relationship goes back 11 something years to our time at IDG/IDC
  • Chris The Cisco Kidd from Comstor the Cisco arm of Westcon, once a network engineer for Wang has been a long time supporter of AFQY
  • Martin Smithson from Kordia joins for this his second time at the same time with a great understanding of the ethos of AFQY's no selling rule and what AFQY is hoping to achieve.
  • Frederick Piliu with 3 months under the belt at Red Hat and true Auckland local who started as a BA, and this will be his first AFQY!

Venue Sponsor

  • Annie Crosby Mangels Operations Manager of Bungalow8, who organises the food and great service from the team
