Event description

Description

Kia ora Wellington!

A Few Quiet Yarns, the distinctly Kiwi styled event that's been running for 9 years; and been to Wellington on occasion; now we're back with regular events, so you can count us every 2months! Focussed on enabling you to meet the person, through facilitated introductions by host Ryan Ashton who will go round the room and introduce everyone to everyone (Name, Title and Company 203 the record to beat!) to help you know who is in the room and enable you to connect with ease.

There is a no-selling rule; no one wants to be sold to after hours, but they do want to meet good people, and once you know 'cut of a persons jib', you might ask for their card to arrange a follow up catch up which is great, but you can not flick your cards out or sell.

Check out this video (albeit Auckland based video) 'Personalise business' by meeting the person, not their suit!

Event (Sponsors) Supporters: "It takes a community to support a community"

There are 4 types of sponsorship: Family, Mates, Community and of course Venue sponsors, as you will have seen above. AFQY Sponsorship Slideshare

Community (Sponsor) Supporter:

sponsors

From left to right, Simon Moor from Rightway Accountant & Strategy; a long term and loyal AFQY supporter, what can I say, he helps AFQY manage the beans, the Rightway ;-) Canterbury is his first team though, not sure how the Canes people will deal with that?

The "Chris The Cisco Kidd" from Comstor who was Wang Network Engineer once upon a time and now helping resellers connect end users with the 'san-fran'

Mark Loveys from Datagate, who is an AFQY Digital Partner, proving that business can be done on a handshake with our announcement made 14 days before contracts were signed, "Destiny in Motion" as his famous song from Satellite Spies days goes - and music is a good place to start a yarn with.

Kevin Maloney from LPS joins for the first of 5 events as a sponsor - a regular Auckland attendee, Kevin knows AFQY like the back of his hand and the value of personalising business; One of my favourite stories is Kevin reconnecting with Simon Martin (Lawyer) at a past AFQY; they hadn't seen each other for 10 years and caught up at AFQY - which is a great place to enjoy a social catch up with old mates as much as making new connections.

Last but not least is Keith Block from Connect NZ WGTN, however, we first met at AFQY Auckland a few years back, I can still remember introducing him like playing a video of it in my mind. Often mistaken for being Maori, Keith is indigenous of another Cree - work that out or ask him when you meet him!
