A Guide to Governance

The Government Women's Network invites you to join us hear Kelly McGregor and Stella Kotrotsos from the Institute of Directors (IoD) share what’s involved when embarking on a governance career.

Kelly and Stella will cover the types of board roles available and what attributes these boards are looking for when recruiting for new members. You’ll also learn tips on how to prepare a governance CV, maximising your LinkedIn profile and making your value proposition known to your networks.

You’ll also hear about the IoD’s Future Directors and Mentoring for Diversity programmes, highlighting women from the government sector who have had opportunities through the IoD and what learnings they’ve taken away from the experience.

There will be Q&As at the end of the presentation so please bring your questions with you.

Tea and coffee will be available and you can bring your lunch along as well. There is a café on the ground floor of the venue and you can get a bite to eat from there on the way through.

We will be starting at noon so please arrive in time to grab a drink and a seat.

Our Speakers:

Stella Kotrotsos manages the development, delivery and continuous improvement of IoD’s Membership and Diversity Programmes including Future Directors and Mentoring for Diversity. She’s also responsible for the development of IoD's member retention strategy, customer segmentation, and related projects or new programmes for particular segments that ensure retention, engagement, satisfaction and growth of IoD's membership.

Stella has worked at the Institute of Directors for two years. Her background in sales, marketing, commercial procurement, operations and general management enable her to see things and understand the diverse views of a multitude of stakeholders.

Kelly McGregor manages the IoD’s suite of board appointment services which includes our DirectorSearch and DirectorVacancies offerings as well as additional recruitment support. Kelly regularly participates on interview panels for client board appointments, providing independence and guidance throughout the selection process. She also provides advice to IoD members and regularly runs branch workshops on how to build your board career and writing a governance CV.

Kelly has worked at the Institute of Directors for over nine years and is an IoD member. Her governance knowledge and recruitment expertise combined with a background in executive recruitment, has enabled her to assist clients through the end to end appointment process from advertising and search through to selection, interviewing and appointment.
