A strategy for New Zealand Food Safety - Māori engagement

Event Information

Event description

Right now many things are changing our food system – climate change, new food from different places, lab-grown food, consumer expectations, pressure on natural resources, and complex trade settings – which means New Zealand’s world-class food safety system needs to adapt.

Haumaru Kai Aotearoa (New Zealand Food Safety), a business unit of the Ministry for Primary Industries, has developed a draft strategy so it can continue to deliver for Māori, New Zealand consumers, food businesses, our trading partners and New Zealand.

Haumaru Kai Aotearoa wants to be a future focused organisation that is clear about how it will remain agile and resilient under these challenges.

Haumaru Kai Aotearoa wants to engage with you about your wants, needs and expectations of the food safety system. We are particularly interested in your view on an outcome in the draft strategy focussed on working in partnership with Māori:

Māori have trust and confidence in the food safety system because we work in partnership.
