Need a Pep Talk? Want to Grow Your Confidence?
We can’t promise miracles, but we can offer stories, experiences, and hard-earned wisdom from someone who’s taken a deep dive into the topic of confidence:
- What it is
- What it’s not
- What gets in the way
… and ultimately, how to push through the noise - plus a few hacks, habits, and Jedi mind tricks to help you step into your best, boldest self (even if some days you just want to chill at home in track pants, eating ice cream with your pets!).
Come along and hear from our self-confessed non-expert in confidence, but someone with real-world experience in breaking out of comfort zones, battling overthinking, and discovering that confidence (when done right) can be seriously contagious.
Who’s it for? This event is open to women and non-binary people who are working in, studying, or simply curious about Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM).
About the Speaker: Ruth James
After experiencing a quarter-life crisis in the early 2000s, Ruth James made a conscious decision to start challenging her comfort zones.
With over a decade of experience in public speaking, and leading workshops, programs, and projects in the tech outreach space with Orion Health and Xero, Ruth brings a deeply personal perspective to the topic of confidence.
She draws on inspiration from leading experts like Prof. Carol Dweck, Dr. Brené Brown, and Katty Kay & Claire Shipman (authors of The Confidence Code), weaving their insights with her own journey of developing confidence, grit, a growth mindset, and mindfulness.
Ruth is also one of our amazing co-founders of Tauranga Women in STEM.
