Description

WHAT THE SPACE PROGRAMME CAN TEACH INDUSTRY ABOUT PROCESS, KNOWLEDGE RETENTION & TEAMWORK

Lessons from the coalface of innovation

No one wants surprises in projects, but in the race to deliver on time and within budget, corners can be cut that lead to predictable, negative outcomes. But how can you balance risk against return and keep standards up without sacrificing accuracy?

Accelerate 2017 is a business event with a difference. It’s not just about what you’ll learn, but how you’ll learn it, with interactive and experiential sessions designed to stimulate all your senses.

  • Hear from former NASA Astronaut Mike Mullane, in a video interview, as he talks about being agile while managing risk.

  • See and learn why ‘predictable surprises’ happen and how you can design systems to mitigate these.

  • Taste Artificial Intelligence in action as Chef Watson delivers lunch in collaboration with MasterChef Simon Gault.

Video interview with an Astronaut

Samuel Williams hosts a video interview with Mike Mullane: An engineer, retired USAF Officer and former NASA Astronaut, who flew on three Space Shuttle missions. Hear about the unique perspectives space travel gave Mike on safety, teamwork and agility. Using the Challenger disaster as a key reference, we’ll look at balancing risk and agility against safety and process, managing complex processes that have very real consequences. He brings a unique perspective on what the space programme can teach us and our industry.

Proper IT asset management is more than good business; it results in savings on the bottom line. To conduct proper ITAM, a business needs a broad view of its assets, including identity, use, spend and compliance. You need to understand where your organisation fits on the IT asset maturity curve.
