Meet the Presenter
Katie Bourke – Accessibility Advisor & Educator, BarrierFree
Katie brings over 15 years of international experience as an accessibility consultant, having worked with organisations across Ireland, the UK, and New Zealand. Her background in universal design and lived experience as a wheelchair user inform her passionate, people-first approach to inclusive environments.
She has advised government departments, historic universities, and education providers, and led accessibility initiatives reaching over 30,000 students. At BarrierFree, Katie works closely with councils and design teams to ensure external environments support safety, independence, and dignity for all users – starting from the outside in.
