About this event

As Tayla Alexander and Miles Timmis prepare to journey to the UK to study and showcase New Zealand’s musical talent overseas, they invite you to a unique fundraising concert that promises to transport you across waters through the power of music.

Tayla and Miles will be accompanied by Lindy Tennent Brown and other internationally recognised artists including Emma Pearson, Manase Latu, and Morag Atchison.

What Tayla and Miles are fundraising for:

Tayla Alexander has been awarded the prestigious Bicentenary Scholarship to study a one-year intensive Masters of Music at the Royal Academy of Music in London, one of the world’s most well-respected conservatoires.

Tayla’s Masters programme, which at times collaborates with the Fondazione Masquerade Opera Foundation in Florence, will include everything from performance classes, seminars, opera coaching, scenes and stagecraft, masterclasses, language classes and phonetics, acting and movement classes, opera audition classes, repertoire coaching and the opportunity to perform for visiting opera professionals such as casting directors and agents.

The scholarship is reserved for students in exceptional circumstances, covering course fees and contributing partly to living costs. For Tayla, the Masters programme will be a preparatory year before she enters the Opera Programme in 2025.

Miles Timmis will be attending Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in London where he has been offered a position on a notable one-year Masters in Musical Theatre Performance.

Mountview is one of the UK’s leading drama schools, and graduates are often found performing everywhere from the famous West End to international stages.

During his programme, Miles will receive over 30 hours of individualised training each week, including acting for stage and screen, singing, dance and industry preparation, as well as performance opportunities with some of the UK's leading agents.

Despite the generous support from the Royal Academy of Music, Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, and New Zealand-based scholarships, there costs required to make this journey overseas possible are vast.

All funds raised at this special concert will contribute to covering any additional tuition fees, flights and other travel costs such as visas, and living expenses.
