Join us for a talk by leading Southeast Asian tourism entrepreneurs

About this Event

From one of the largest marketplaces for local tours in Thailand to the first ethnic-minority owned tour operator in Vietnam, join us to hear about how three leading Southeast Asian entrepreneurs are paving the way in tourism.

Entrepreneurs Thi Su Tan, Nella Lomotan and Taro Jinda-Apiraksa are in New Zealand as part of the Foundation's entrepreneurship programme.

They will share their insights on the Vietnamese, Filipino and Thai tourism sectors respectively.

Thi Su (Shu) Tan, Vietnam

Shu established Sapa O’Chau Travel in 2013, the first ethnic minority-owned tour operator with international tour operator licence.

Shu was awarded 2019 Asia’s Woman Leaders Award by World Women Leadership Congress and Awards, was named a finalist for 2019 Women of the Future Awards Southeast Asia social entrepreneur and one of the 2016 Forbes Vietnam 30 under 30. She was featured on NHK World and CNN documentaries in 2019.

Amornched (Taro) Jinda-Apiraksa, Thailand

Taro is the CEO and co-founder of TakeMeTour, the award winning and largest marketplace for local tours in Thailand & Southeast Asia. TakeMeTour has more than 25,000 registered local experts from 65 cities. Taro was featured in Forbes 30 under 30 (Asia) in 2018 as well as Thailand's Rising Tech Stars by Asia TATLER & UK Alumni Award in 2017.

Marinella (Nella) Lomotan, Philippines

Nella is the Founder of Eco Explorations, a social enterprise contributing to environmental and socioeconomic impact in the Philippines through ecotourism, aiming to preserve its natural heritage and biodiversity.They have a number of impact projects including providing renewable energy and clean water for communities, and contributing to wildlife conservation. Nella is also developing her first Eco lodge in El Nido, to act as a hub for ecotourism in the island, and a place to educate customers and communities on conservation and sustainability.
