New Zealanders love their pies, but it is all mince and cheese and not apple and blueberry. But heading into winter is there anything more satisfying that tucking into a good ol' American Apple pie with ice cream on a Sunday night? Here to teach you how to become the perfect human being with a latticed pie cooling on your window sill is Brandie Stephens of Dough Momma.
Grand winner of the inaugural "Garage Project Bake Off" (she also took out two of the three separate categories Brandie is a master pie maker. She started Dough Momma, a business where she delivers pie to your work on a Friday afternoon! Careful the weekly email on a Wednesday is dangerous. These pies are sinful - Salted Caramel and Pear, Key Lime Pie with Ginger Crust or my personal favourite the S'mores Pie. Did I mention they are delivered TO YOUR DOOR!
In this class Brandie will walk you through making your very own apple pie (about as American as you can get), from making a perfect sweet crust pastry; to the tangy, sweet apple filling. You'll put it all together to bake at home. But I'm not one to let you go home on an empy stomach, so we are all going to sit down over freshly ground filter coffee (an American favourite) and sample some of Dough Momma's favourite pies.
I'm salivating already.
