About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours 30 minutes

Join us to hear about Professor Rochelle Constantine’s fascinating research and to catch up with fellow alumni and friends living in Wellington.

The Ocean Life Around Us

A connected network of ocean ecosystems covers 70% of this planet we share with a rich array of biodiversity. Many of the large ocean animals such as whales, manta rays and seabirds travel thousands of kilometres in search of prey or breeding grounds, connecting us through the sea.

Ocean life is facing many stressors, including climate change, fishing pressures, pollution and habitat degradation. But innovative research can inform collective change that does make a difference for a more thriving ocean in the future. Our guest speaker is marine ecologist and conservation biologist

Professor Rochelle Constantine. She runs collaborative research projects from the tropics to Antarctica and works closely with industry, governments and local people to affect change. Join us to hear about Rochelle’s fascinating research and to catch up with fellow alumni and friends living in Wellington.

Canapés and drinks will be served.

Important note: photographs / video will be taken at this event by the University. If you don't want to appear in any photos or video footage, please contact the events team at alumni-events@auckland.ac.nz
