We’re excited to welcome renowned ceramic artist Cheryl Lucas for a conversation about creative process, bold ideas and the art of expression.
Cheryl brings a fearless voice to her work - transforming traditional craft into a bold, unflinching commentary on the world around us, describing it as “the perfect medium to convey even the most unpalatable truths”.
Based in Lyttelton, and shaped by her upbringing in Central Otago, Cheryl challenges expectations of scale, material, and message. Her work has been exhibited widely in Aotearoa and internationally, held in major public and private collections including Te Papa Tongarewa, Christchurch Art Gallery Te Puna o Waiwhetū, and museums in China and Spain. She has been recognised with numerous honours, including the Creative New Zealand Craft/Object Fellowship, Sculpture on the Peninsula Premier Award, and membership in the International Academy of Ceramics.
