About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours 30 minutes

The Islamic Women’s Council of New Zealand warmly invites you to an inspiring evening with Dame Valerie Adams

Join us for a powerful and uplifting evening with Dame Valerie Adams — Olympic gold medallist, world champion shot putter, and proud wāhine toa — as she shares her personal journey of resilience, discipline, and identity. This exclusive session is created for Muslimah in Auckland to gather in a safe and empowering space, hear Valerie’s story, and reflect on the many forms of strength.

Her story echoes many of the values we hold close in Islam — perseverance through hardship, striving for excellence (ihsan), and remaining grounded in purpose. This gathering is an opportunity for Muslimah to reflect on the concept of inner and outer strength, and how we can draw lessons from diverse voices while anchoring ourselves in our own faith.

The evening will include a brief Islamic reflection, grounding the session in Islamic principles and offering a moment of spiritual insight before Dame Valerie’s component.

Whether you're passionate about sport, navigating your own challenges, or simply seeking inspiration, this is an event not to be missed.
