The Dangerous Consumptions Colloquium draws on social, cultural and critical theory to discuss research regarding any form of ‘dangerous’, ‘risky’ or contested consumptions. We encourage presentations from critical, social and cultural studies perspectives exploring topics as diverse as: alcohol, tobacco, pharmaceuticals, coffee, sugar, illicit drugs, gambling, sexuality, reproduction, the Internet, social media, media forms/popular culture, pornography, fossil fuels, retirement villages, food and animals, and other similarly potentially harmful consumptions.

Come and join us, take on this opportunity to discuss adventurous ideas related to your work with a responsive and friendly audience.
The Colloquium runs over two days with a single stream of papers so attendees partake together in sharing ideas and discussing them from different perspectives. We aim for collaborative discussions about dangerous consumptions and the conceptual approaches used to make sense of them.
