Event description

Description

Robin Burton has a personal connection to the Antarctic, as his grandfather was a stoker on Scott’s ship, the Terra Nova. Come and join him for this illustrated talk, as he takes us south in a 72 metre ship, though the roaring forties and the screaming 60’s, on through the Southern Ocean to Ross Island. Share with him the magnificence of the seldom-visited Sub-Antarctic Islands and the fantastic fauna and flora found there. Hear about names like Borchgrevink, Shackleton and Scott, terms like “convergence”, and the unique wildlife of the frozen continent.

Cost for TimeBank members: 1.5 Time Credits
