Description

Arts of the world: Perspectives from the East

Radhika Raghav’s PhD thesis examines the emergence of the feminine ideal in art and visual culture in the Indian subcontinent. Before commencing her PhD at Otago, her Master’s project in Art History documented and studied careers of artists of pre-digital street-corner art such as film posters and billboards. She has a longstanding interest in art and cultural history, with a specific focus on painting and architecture, as well as film and fashion history. Her classes will be topic based and will offer an overview of a range of arts including, broadly defined, Near East Asian and Asian Art, and Inuit Art. This course is designed to be interactive and assists in developing analytical skills/critical thinking for further studies in art.

Please note: participants must be 16 years or older to join this class.

Art History classes are taught by Radhika Raghav.

One weekly class per term (8x week duration): Tuesday, 6.00-8.00pm.
