Event description

Description

Asia After Five is a social networking event hosted by the Asia New Zealand Foundation.

Mix and mingle over drinks and nibbles, hear stories from inspiring individuals and get a taste of the many strands of the New Zealand-Asia relationship.

This Asia After Five features two of Southeast Asia's leading agribusiness entreprenuers who will share their insights into the Indonesia and Vietnam's dynamic agribusiness sectors.

Nguyen Hong Ngoc Bich (Bicky), CricketOne

Bicky is the co-founder and business development manager at CricketOne, an agricultural company that produces sustainable and affordable protein from crickets. CricketOne breeds crickets inside 40-foot containers, allowing them to farm all year. They feed the crickets with cassava leftovers, saving feeding costs and waste while shortening production. CricketOne has had early success in raising money through accelerator programmes and VCs in Vietnam and in Europe. Bicky has been named as a finalist for the 2018 Young Social Entrepreneur Award (for Asia and the US). CricketOne is the second venture-capital-backed agriculture technology startup she has co-founded.

Tissa Aunilla, Pipilton Cocoa

Tissa is the CEO of Pipilton Cocoa, a bean to bar, single origin, chocolate company, sourcing direct from farmers in Bali, Flores, Aceh and East Java. Direct sourcing allows Pipilton to support the sustainability of cocoa farming by working with farmers to promote sustainable practices as well as paying suppliers 40-50 percent more than market price. Pipiltin has three stores in Jakarta and supplies more than 70 retail specialty stores across Java, Bali, and Lombok, and has recently begun to export to Japan and Singapore. In preparation to founding Pipilton, Tissa became a Master Chocolatier, studying in Switzerland. Prior to founding Pipilton, Tissa was a corporate lawyer.

Bicky and Tissa are in New Zealand under the ASEAN Young Business Leaders Initiative, a programme the Foundation manages on behalf of the New Zealand government. While in New Zealand, they will attend Fieldays, New Zealand's largest agricultural event.
