Assess and Improve Your AppSec Programme using OWASP SAMM

Date: Monday, June 21

Time: 9:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Location: Datacom Auckland, 58 Gaunt Street, Auckland CBD

Fee: $455.00 or less (see below)

Summary:

Building application security (AppSec) into your organisation’s software development and management practices can be a daunting task. There are myriad elements to consider: organisation structure, business domain, compliance requirements, stakeholder priorities, technology stacks, tools and processes, and more.

Implementing a comprehensive software assurance programme offers significant benefits for the organisation, but doing so without a good framework can yield only marginal and unsustainable improvements. The OWASP Software Assurance Maturity Model (SAMM) provides a structured, measurable framework for assessing the current maturity of your AppSec programme and formulate the roadmap for improvement, tailored to your organisation’s risk profile and priorities.

During the session, we’ll cover: overview of the model, its background and motivations; review of the model’s structure, including the Activities comprising each of its five Business Functions; how to structure, scope, and perform your baseline assessment; and how to develop your improvement roadmap and track progress.

This class is part of our AppSec Training catalogue, which also includes:

  • Capturing Software Security Requirements through Threat Modelling (1 day, $910.00)
  • Secure Application Coding and Design (2 days, $1,820.00)
  • Software Security Testing: Verifying the Right Things Were Done Right (1 day, $910.00)
  • DevSecOps: Building Security into DevOps Practices (2 days, $1,820.00)
  • Managing Security and Risk in Your Software Supply Chain (1/2 day, $455.00)
  • SDLC to SSDL: Building Security into Your Software Lifecycle (1/2 day, $455.00)
  • Cloud Security: Managing Security in and of the Cloud (2 days, $1,820.00)
  • Application Security Refresher: Maintaining Awareness and Compliance (1/2 day, $455.00)

Fees are in New Zealand dollars, and inclusive of GST and order processing fees. Tea breaks and lunch are provided.

From the third Thursday of each month, we’ve scheduled offerings of our classes, for which all are invited to register on a first-in, first-served basis. Each class session is limited to 30 participants, so be sure to register early to secure your seats.

Multiple Registration Discounts: Discounted pricing is available, for multiple tickets purchased in the same class. If you are purchasing multiple seats across more than one class (totalling $3,640 or more), please contact the AppSec Training team (appsectraining@datacom.co.nz) and we'll send you a discount code to use on your orders.
