About this event

  • Event lasts 161 days 4 hours

These collaborative termly meetings are designed to provide literacy leaders and teachers with an opportunity to connect with schools in their area, engage with current research, and develop effective literacy education for New Zealand schools.

These meetings will focus on inquiry and will enable teachers and leaders to:

  • stay up to date with any English updates from the Ministry of Education, including curriculum and assessment changes and Te Mātaiaho revisions
  • develop leadership capability in the literacy space, enhancing the ability to guide and support literacy initiatives
  • explore new research, strategies, and tools for literacy teaching and learning
  • build pedagogical content knowledge (PCK) and apply it to classroom practice—understanding what effective literacy teaching looks, sounds, and feels like in action
  • network with other teachers and leaders to share best practices and insights from their schools

Cognition has been running mathematics leadership workshops for over 15 years and is now thrilled to offer literacy workshops as part of this professional learning network in 2025.

What your colleagues are saying about MLCs:

“Thank you so much for all your hard work in developing these leadership opportunities. The meetings have run smoothly and at a level that everyone can understand and follow. There has been something for everyone regardless of their level. The meetings have been informative, interesting and well planned. There has always been a lot to "take away" and easy to use PD to use with our school.”
