Event description

Description

A fascinating glimpse into the history the first major cemetery in Auckland. The location is an important transportation hub for trails at first, and then later for roads to the west and south. Modelled on a 19th century English cemetery, it is also the final resting place for Māori in early days.

This walk is popular with all ages and gives a better appreciation of early Auckland.

This event is brought to you by K'Road Business Association and Friends of the Symonds Street Cemetery.

Remember to wear shoes suitable for walking, the cemetery is hilly in parts and the ground can be uneven. It could be raining or sunny or both, bring clothing to keep you warm and dry and cool and shaded.
