Conference Theme: "Climate, Sustainability, and the Future of Reporting in Aotearoa."
The Department of Accounting, Auckland University of Technology (AUT), is hosting the 22nd Auckland Region Accounting (ARA) Conference at the AUT City Campus. The ARA Conference is sponsored by the Auckland area tertiary institutions – AUT University, Manukau Institute of Technology, Massey University, Unitec Institute of Technology and the University of Auckland. It has the following objectives:
· To provide a forum for academics to showcase their research.
· To promote research interaction and collaboration among its participants.
· To introduce postgraduate students and emerging researchers to a conference environment and meet with their peers from other institutions.
The plenary speakers at the conference will be:
· Dr Amelia Sharman, Director Sustainability Reporting, XRB
· Lydia Tsen CA, New Zealand Government Affairs Leader, CA ANZ
The ARA conference encourages a broad interpretation of the conference theme. The conference committee will consider papers from all areas of accounting but will encourage submissions of papers dealing with the conference theme.
Papers should be submitted as Word documents. As papers will be subject to blind peer review, please state the name(s), email address(es) and institutional detail(s) of the author(s) only on the title page, a separate page in the front of the manuscript. The abstract of the paper should appear on top of the first page of the manuscript.

Key dates:
· Submission of papers by 30 September 2025, 5 pm NZDT
· Submit at ara2025@aut.ac.nz
· Submissions will be double-blind peer reviewed. Decisions will be emailed to the submitting author within three weeks of the paper’s submission deadline.
· Registration by 7 November 2025.
Three prizes will be awarded for the best papers, including one for the best postgraduate research paper. We strongly encourage postgraduate and doctoral students to participate and submit their work.
Only full papers submitted to the conference for presentations will be considered for the Best Paper Awards.
