About this event

We are so excited to welcome Stephanie Parkyn back to speak about her latest novel, 'The Freedom of Birds'; a story that travels through fairy tale German villages, Italian theatres and French battlefields at the fall of Napoleon's Empire. She will share some of the historical research involved in writing this story, images of her travels and introduce you to her novel’s characters. 'The Freedom of Birds' tells the story of a troupe of storytellers, circus artists, and theatre performers fighting to be free of Napoleon's wars and occupations.

PLEASE NOTE: As we prepare for the move into the COVID-19 Protection Framework (traffic light system), attendees will be required to wear a mask during the event and show their COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate.

Author Bio: Stephanie is a bestselling author of historical fiction. Her first novel, Into the World, was published to wide acclaim in 2017 and longlisted for the Tasmania Book Prize. Josephine's Garden, was based on the true story of the woman who became Napoleon Bonaparte's Empress of France. The Freedom of Birds is her third novel. She writes from her home in a remote bush clad valley on the Coromandel Peninsula.
