Basejump Comedy | Building a Bit (show)
Event Information
About this Event
A Bit Show is a full-length comedy show, based around a new theme that changes every time. Absurd premises and big characters make up the show, and its semi-scripted and semi-improvised nature allows the cast to create solid moments of comedy all while combining the thrill of the unexpected!
Think of it like sketch comedy but a little more wild and a lot less memorization!
In this 8 session course you'll learn, how to devise, pitch, and perform comedic premises to create a themed stage show. Among this you'll learn:
- The key components to a successful idea pitch
- Repeatable ways to structure a comedic bit
- Skills to aid your improvisation in a devised premise
- Common scene patterns and how to use them
And most importantly, you'll get a ton of practice and experience, ensuring that you come away from this class with a greater ability to create live stage comedy!
In this course you'll create content for at least six different bit shows. You will come up with ideas outside of class, and have them ready to be presented in the next class!
