Hon Chris Hipkins, Minister for COVID-19 Response, Education, Public Service, and Leader of the House
The Minister-in-charge of NZ’s Covid-19 response and vaccine rollout, Hon Chris Hipkins, will be our guest speaker at the Chamber’s next Beehive to Business.
Minister Hipkins has several portfolios, as he is also the Minister tasked with making sure our kids pass NCEA, implementing the ROVE reforms, overseeing the turning wheels of government, and is in charge of all the legislation that makes its way through Parliament.
Of New Zealand’s team of five million, there are over half a million people now vaccinated. Come along to hear about the next stage of New Zealand’s response, how quarantine-free travel is going, and his thoughts on how NZ will rejoin the world.

About the speaker:
Chris Hipkins is the Member of Parliament for Remutaka. He is Minister for COVID-19 Response, Minister of Education and Minister for the Public Service. He is also Leader of the House. Chris has worked in both the public and private sectors. He attended Victoria University, a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Politics and Criminology at Victoria University. After completing his study, Chris worked in the industry training sector.
Before becoming an MP he also worked at parliament, first as Senior Advisor to two Education Ministers and later in the office of the then-Prime Minister Helen Clark. Chris entered Parliament in 2008 and became the Spokesperson for Education at the beginning of 2013. He places a strong emphasis on social justice and believes that every New Zealander should have the opportunity to reach their full potential.
