We are back with our first Beehive to Business guest speaker for 2021- new Workplace Relations and Safety, and Transport Minister, the Hon. Michael Wood.
With two major ministerial portfolios, Minister Wood will play a key part in the Labour-led government, with work already underway – already he has been active in promoting portfolio policy intentions since taking on his new roles in November.
Minister Wood will speak about his portfolios, including; where to on fair payments, upcoming minimum wage increases, changes to holiday and sick leave entitlements, the future of the region’s transport infrastructure, and what’s next for Let’s Get Wellington Moving.

About the speaker:
Michael is the MP for Mt Roskill, Minister of Transport and Minister for Workplace Relations and Safety. He is also Deputy Leader of the House.
Michael was first elected to Parliament at the 2016 Mt Roskill by-election. In opposition, he was Labour’s spokesperson for Transport, Revenue, and Consumer Affairs. After the 2017 election he was appointed as Parliamentary Under-Secretary to the Minister for Ethnic Communities and became Chair of the Finance and Expenditure Select Committee.
Prior to his parliamentary role Michael was a member of the Puketāpapa Local Board, and before this held roles with Habitat for Humanity and as a senior negotiator for the Finance Sector union Finsec.
