Description

This 5 session introductory pottery course will get you started with basic clay handling techniques and methods required in order to create you own ceramic piece. The course will cover different methods (pinch/ coil/ slab technique) in which you can choose to work. You will also be introduced to aesthetic qualities such as surface design, decoration and basic glazing techniques to make your work stand out from the rest.

Please note: Due to the nature of ceramics there may be an additional cost for firing as an offsite kiln has to be used price depends on size and time needed per item.

Week 1 Introduction to clay techniques

Week 2 -3 Making and building.

Week 4 Surface design and decoration

Week 5 Firing process and glazing techniques.

About Ellie Jones

Ellie has a Bachelor of Art Therapy and a postgraduate in art education. For the last 15 years she has worked in secondary schools both in the UK and New Zealand. Currently, she is an art teacher at St Cuthberts College in Auckland. Her own work is focused within the fields of ceramics and painting.
