Hosted by BioTechNZ and the Taranaki Applied Innovation Centre, an initiative of Te Puna Umanga Venture Taranaki, the regional development agency, Biotech Connect aims to build momentum for biotechnology in the region by connecting interested innovators and experts to lay the foundations for an exciting new industry.

Hear from Dr Alec Foster of Scion Research as he shares his experience in biotechnology and its potential to reshape the future of Taranaki. With a career spanning international biotech leadership and over 40 patents, Dr Foster brings deep expertise in bioproducts, synthetic biology, and circular manufacturing. He now leads Scion’s work in biorefineries and biomanufacturing, helping shape the future of sustainable industries in Aotearoa.
You’ll also hear from Zahra Champion, Executive Director of BiotechNZ, who will give an overview of the trajectory of biotechnology for the country and how Taranaki can position itself to take advantage.
