Join illustrator Scarlett Robinson-Kean for a morning of botanical illustration, inspired by Karin Montgomery’s intricate paper flowers in The Camellia Society.
Scarlett will take participants for a quick tour of The Camellia Society before heading upstairs for some observational drawing and watercolour painting of fresh flowers. Whether you are a first-time painter or seasoned watercolourist, you’ll leave with new skills in seeing the hidden stories in commonplace flowers.
During the workshop, you’ll:
- Gain a greater understanding of the history of botanical illustration- Build confidence in composition and how to approach drawing from reference- Get comfortable with some simple watercolour techniques
This workshop is aimed at beginners but can be tailored to suit those with more experience.
Tickets are $15.00, with all materials provided. Student-quality watercolour sets will be available, but feel free to bring your own paints or brushes if you prefer.
Taking place on Level one, Objectspace, 13 Rose Road, Ponsonby.
