About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours 30 minutes

You may have heard the term “warm roof” or you may have been surprised to discover that you currently live under a "cold roof”.

Do you want to know what the difference between a warm roof and a cold roof is?

Come and hear Denise Martin from BEO; your trusted Building Science Engineers in New Zealand, explain the differences between warm roofs and cold roofs, and the benefits of warms roofs, especially for energy efficient and Passive Buildings.

Jeff Fitness from Sealco will provide the practical products to match Denise’s science. He’ll talk through the various membranes and materials needed to construct warm roofs.

Finally, we’ll look at retrofitting warm roofs and warm floors to existing buildings, using Damien McGill’s house and experiences working with Jeff as a case study. If there is time, we’ll look at alternative ways to insulate a floor of a new building too.

What would be nice would be if people can send some details of alternative floor insulation systems to be discussed on the day. canterbury@passivehouse.nz
