Event description
Madonna King is an award-winning journalist, author and commentator

About this Event

Madonna King has long been known as the voice of current affairs in Queensland, heading the top rating current affairs program on the ABC for six years, and winning several national ABC awards for her journalism.

Madonna writes for the Sydney Morning Herald Good Weekend magazine, and her weekly column, That Thinking Feeling, appears on Brisbane Times each Thursday. Previously, she wrote a popular Saturday column for Brisbane’s The Courier-Mail.

As an author, King has published several books, including the biographies of notable Australians Ian Frazer, Joe Hockey and Maxine Horne. She has also co-authored a book about the Bali Nine.

In 2018, Queensland premier Annastacia Palaszczuk appointed King as chairwoman of the Queensland Government's fledgling anti-bullying taskforce, established in the wake of the suicide of teenage cyberbullying victim Amy "Dolly" Everett.

With a number of award-winning books, Madonna has most recently published a book on the relationship between fathers and daughters and will be able to share insights on this key relationship.

Her work is based on research, having interviewed over 500 hundred girls and fathers, as well as psychologists, school principals, CEO's, police, guidance counsellors and neuroscientists, in order to get the answers all mothers, fathers and daughters need to know.
