Challenges faced by MELAA ethnic groups in New Zealand civic society
Event Information
About this Event
Kia ora,
We are undertaking a stakeholder engagement project (supported by the Office of Ethnic Communities) to better understand the challenges faced by Aotearoa’s smaller ethnic communities. This project will involve connecting with key stakeholders from within the Middle Eastern, Latin American and African communities (includes also African diaspora from America, Caribbean and UK, for example).
The project has two key events, enabling us to engage with MELAA communities and obtain qualitative data in respect of the challenges they face in terms of participating fully within civic society in New Zealand. This event is the second stage and consists of a 3-hour community engagement meeting / stakeholder workshop in Central Auckland (the first event is also listed on Eventbrite: a one-hour Zoom open discussion on Friday 4th December 2020: https://www.eventbrite.co.nz/e/128566536973).
Please note that it is FREE to participate in either of these two events.
The key objectives of this project are to:
• Engage with key community stakeholders from the MELAA communities
• Provide a forum for MELAA community stakeholders to express their concerns and aspirations
• Collect and analyse the key observations and learnings from the two key project outcomes
• Share the key observations and learnings from the two key project outcomes with MELAA stakeholders and interested organisations such as the OEC.
