Changing business models in Japan

Baden Firth, Regional Strategy Manager, Oceania at Mitsubishi Australia Ltd will discuss the modernisation of the Japanese trading house business model of Mitsubishi.

Mitsubishi has transitioned into a globally integrated enterprise through new investment strategies based on diversification and strategic partners. It has achieved growth in overseas markets by developing extensive networks and partnerships around the globe. This strategic change represents a shift away from the traditional vertically integrated trading model of Mitsubishi, to a more outward-looking business that pursues the development of new capabilities.

Following Baden’s presentation, Victoria Hallum, Manager of International Policy and Partnerships at Callaghan Innovation, will talk about how this agency is helping New Zealand businesses engage with international partners.
