Turning a Social Enterprise dream into a successful entity takes passion, energy and the right tools. The reality of legal structures, tax requirements, and legislation can be daunting and create choppy seas. However, equipped with the right knowledge and tools, it can be smooth sailing.

Whether you are considering starting a social enterprise or you are already on the journey, this workshop will encourage and educate you. Helen Price a Social Enterprise Auckland board member and Chartered Accountant, with extensive not-for-profit and social enterprise experience will provide relevant answers to common questions, including:

  • Structuring your Enterprise- What are we? or should we be? Company/sole trader/trust?

  • Tax requirements- GST and dealing with the IRD.

  • Charities Services- What’s expected of me?

  • Employment- Getting others on-board and being a good employer.

  • Specific questions from the floor
