Kate Sheppard lived in Christchurch when she led the world’s first successful campaign for women getting the vote. This is one of our country's most powerful stories of determination, change, and fight to get justice and equality - and it all happened here in this remarkable heritage home!
Arrival:-
You will be met by our visitor host who will introduce you to the house museum and your mission. Follow the self-guided trail through the house and gardens—spot clues, learn cool facts, and imagine life over 130 years ago! Discover hidden stories, dress up like a Victorian child, play old-fashioned garden games, and search for your own whānau in the 1893 suffrage petition!

Complete the activity sheet then get your Children’s University Passport out for a 1 hour stamp
What you need to know:
its free entry for school-aged children (we recommend suitable for children age 7+). You must be accompanied by an adult - entry: $15 (discounts for concession cards are available)🕒 2pm Sessions avoid our crowded tour groups.

Parking:There is no parking on site. Park in the Clyde Pay & Display carpark, off University Drive or Arts Road (just a 2-minute walk to Kate Sheppard House). This carpark is free in the weekends.
