Chinese New Year: Zodiac Art Trail Guided Walk
Event Information
About this event
The Chinese New Year Zodiac Arts Trail maps out the animal signs of the Chinese Zodiac through twelve original artworks by local Wellington, New Zealand and internationally-based artists in a walkable trail through Wellington’s CBD and waterfront.
Reflecting a contemporary Asian-Aotearoa New Zealand perspective, these works are created by a diverse group of artists with strong links to China and Aotearoa New Zealand.
Join a guide on a free walking tour of the trail, starting at New Zealand Portrait Gallery Te Pukenga Whakaata, and ending in Ghuznee St at the Seyip Association, talking through the stories behind the artist's works.
Attendees will also be able to enjoy the Chinese New Year Festival Street Parade as part of the Trail.
The walk is an easy 3.5km but we recommend that you wear comfortable footwear.
Please note spaces are limited to 30. Booking is essential.
A guided walking trail on 7 February will focus on the Chinese Zodiac signs that inspired each work.
Supported by Asian Events Trust, Asia New Zealand Foundation & Wellington City Council
