Event description

Description

The Guardians of Kāpiti Marine Reserve in association with Royal Society Te Apārangi and the Wellington Underwater Club invite you to attend a presentation by Curious Minds Ambassador and Project Reef Life lead Karen Pratt about the fascinating discoveries that local dive club members, schools, biologists, engineers, iwi, fishers and other community groups have made during their study of the rich marine life on a horseshoe-shaped reef 11 kilometres off Pātea.

The study, known as Project Reef Life, is a community led, citizen science initiative that is providing valuable insights into the marine life and habitats that characterise the offshore reefs of the South Taranaki. These insights demonstrate the important role that community and citizen science can play in broadening our understanding of the natural environment and of the contribution that local communities can make to science.

We warmly invite you to join us and learn about this Green Ribbon award winning Project and the people and science that have made it possible.
