Event description
We invite you to come to a talk by Colombian chef, Alejandro Cuellar, on the relationship between Colombia, peace and its food.

About this Event

The Embassy of Colombia to Australia and New Zealand in partnership with the Latin America Centre of Asia-Pacific Excellence invites you next Thursday, September 26th to a public lecture about how to recover traditional flavours and gastronomy in the context of post conflict Colombia. Colombia suffered a 50-year conflict that ended with the signing of the peace agreement in September 2016. Chef Alejandro Cuellar (@coyarcocina) is one of the most recognized chefs in Colombia and is a worldwide gastronomy ambassador. The talk will be on Colombia’s food, cooking, rich traditions and how they relate to its peace.

“For me, peace and cooking is not all about the new paradigm of alternative development. For me, peace and cooking means to be conscious of the people producing the food you’re buying, the working conditions of employees and farmers, the environment, and that prices are just”

The event is free and will be held at The Atom located on the ground floor of Victoria University of Wellington's business school in Pipitea. Colombian coffee will be served. The talk will be held in English.

Spaces are limited, please RSVP to secure a spot.
