Event description

Description

Flash freezes ordinary movement. Ambient (or “available”) light, on the other hand, has to be quite bright to freeze movement. Ambient easily displays motion blur with adjustable cameras.

This workshop is created to teach you how to capture the essence of movement mixed with the sharpness created with strobes. You will learn how learn the differences between longer shutter speed with ambient light as well as the effect with flash.

Mixing movement blur with some sharp portion of the subject is the end goal and what we will explore in this session.

What you will learn:

--the effect of “second-curtain” synchronization

--the use of off-camera flash, controlling flash via camera or manually and remote flash control options

--manual vs. through-the-lens exposure automation

--choosing base aperture, ambient-light exposure via shutter speed, and setting the flash to fit the correct aperture.

--the use and effect of multi-flash for more than one flash image per frame.

Our talent for this workshop is an internationally known art nude model from Utah. Dasha has graced The Lighthouse Studio numerous times now and we are always happy to have her back.

"Dasha is a highly experienced internationally known professional muse that specializes in fine art and fashion nudes. A full-blooded Russian, a world traveler, an outdoor junkie, a bohemian gypsy, and a total healthnut... She is definitely a complex creature! Dasha always looks for genuine connection with her photographers that results in artistic collaboration and mind blowing, dynamic art."
