The Curriculum Framework Transformation paper is now open for consultation with staff, students, and external stakeholders

About this event

The University’s Curriculum Framework Transformation (CFT) programme was established in July 2021 to support delivery of the University’s strategic plan’s (Taumata Teitei) Education and Student Experience vision for a distinctive, vibrant, and accessible Waipapa Taumata Rau | University of Auckland experience for students and a rewarding teaching environment for staff.

Following early-engagement and co-creation with staff and students, a CFT paper is open for consultation with staff, students, and external stakeholders this month.

The CFT programme of work is ongoing, however the Phase 1 Consultation paper covers the guiding principles (taumata) and overarching aspirations for transformation at Waipapa Taumata Rau | The University of Auckland, as well as key recommendations tied to curriculum structure (undergraduate and sub-doctoral postgraduate) and pathways.

We would like to take this opportunity to invite Auckland high school principals to an online webinar on Monday 23 May, 3.00 - 4.00pm where members of the CFT Taskforce will speak to the paper and outline some of the emerging ideas that are coming forward as we work towards curriculum framework transformation.

Topics that may be of interest include:

• The eight taumata or transformational principles to guide our response with respect to curriculum framework transformation

• Structure recommendations tied to the length, breadth, and structure of undergraduate degrees

• Structure recommendations tied to pathways into tertiary study and time allocated for completion of a degree

• Structure recommendations tied to core learning, in particular those aligned with our ongoing commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and accountabilities

If you are unable to attend, a recording of the session will be made available to everyone after the event.

BACKGROUND

The CFT Programme was tasked to initiate work on a proposal to transform Waipapa Taumata Rau | University of Auckland’s Curriculum Framework in line with Taumata Teitei (the University’s Vision 2030 and Strategic Plan 2025). We are now in Phase 1 of consultation, with a later phase looking at the learning and teaching delivery framework, and hallmark elements opening for consultation in July/August 2022.

You can learn more about the work being done by the taskforce on the website, where you will also find the Curriculum Framework consultation paper, the supporting paper on curriculum structure, and the feedback form.
