Join our webinar to hear a panel of experts explain DeFi for investment and finance professionals in NZ (without getting into technical specifics). Including their views on DeFi disrupting traditional financial systems.
Each speaker will give a presentation, followed by a panel discussion with Q&A from the audience.
The following key points will be covered:
- Introduction to DeFi; how it works and the problems it is designed to solve.
- Overview of the current market and sectors within DeFi.
- The key risks and opportunities of DeFi, such as regulatory and scaling up.
- Stablecoin, Terra and MakerDAO.
- How Traditional finance (TradFi) can collaborate with DeFi.
SPEAKERS
Bryan Ventura (moderator)
Bryan Ventura is an expert in Web3 projects (cryptocurrencies, NFTs, DeFi and blockchain) and their regulation, advising blockchain and crypto projects since 2017. He is a senior associate at MinterEllisonRuddWatts and the current Chair of BlockchainNZ. He is also a Council Member of the International Digital Asset Exchange Association (IDAXA).
Henrik Andersson, CFA
Henrik is Chief Investment Officer at Apollo Capital, Australia's leading crypto asset investment firm. Henrik has over 20 years experience in global financial markets, with almost a decade on Wall Street. Henrik has extensive experience across three continents as a quantitative analyst, senior research analyst and in institutional equity sales. Henrik is a co-founder of two DeFi projects, mStable and dHEDGE. Henrik holds a Master of Science in Engineering Physics from the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), a Master of Science in Business Administration and Economics from Stockholm University, and is a CFA charterholder.
Sorel Carr
Sorel is a Commercial Partner at the BNZ, focusing on helping mid-market enterprise in NZ, and specialising in high growth tech and fintech businesses. He is passionate about the intersection of traditional finance and emerging technologies (cryptocurrencies, Web3, DeFi), and how finance in the digital age will look and feel. Sorel sits on the Executive Council of BlockchainNZ, holds various governance roles in the start-up ecosystem, and is a mentor to SME business owners.
Will Remor
Will is a Core Unit Facilitator – Real-world assets at MakerDAO. A passionate data analytics and blockchain consultant, Will works as a bridge between software engineering teams and business users. In blockchain, he is experienced designing and delivering applications and use cases using scalable smart contract platforms, particularly Ethereum and the DeFi ecosystem. His current focus is on enriching data and building predictive models using machine learning from distributed open source blockchain data. Will is an active member of BlockchainNZ.
