Event description
Learn and design a sound system in all types of scenario from retail stores, restaurant/bar and commercial buildings.

About this Event

Are you in need of a sound system to play background music or make announcements in a restaurant / bar, school, warehouse, retail shop, or other commercial building?

A distributed speaker system often presents the most economical, practical, and safest solution, and yet, there is still a lot of misunderstanding, or misconception, about these speaker systems.

Discover the benefits of high impedance systems over low impedance, and learn basic design philosophies for background music and systems where paging is also required.

Topics Covered:

High impedance vs low impedance speaker systems

The importance of using the right cable

How to correctly connect high impedance systems

Basic power requirement calculations

Designing a system for background music

Designing a system for BGM with paging

Software tools for predicting speaker system performance

Meet QSC’s new Premium Business Music solutions

Presenter: Richard Braid

With a technical background in general electrical wiring, an interest in theatre sound saw Richard move to Auckland in 1994 to study Audio Engineering. Since graduating in 1995, Richard has worked in the professional audio industry clocking up eleven years as an integrator and nearly twelve years in a training / technical support / design engineer role for two of NZ’s larger distributors.

As an integrator, Richard worked with high impedance, distributed speaker systems on a daily basis. Whether it be designing, installing or servicing systems for churches, schools, airports, entertainment venues and retail outlets, Richard has a wealth of experience in the commercial audio sector.

While in a support / design role, Richard has been involved in the design of sound systems for a number of high profile sites around the country, and assisted integrators in the programming and commissioning of those installations. His projects include meeting / boardrooms, auditoriums and concert venues, casino’s, museums, lecture theatres, bars and restaurants, churches and shopping malls.

Richard has gained certification in Sound System Design (SynAudCon), and Acoustic Modelling using AFMG’s EASE software, and currently assists the NSL sales team designing and modelling speaker systems for a variety of projects.

Session Times:

9:00am - 1:00pm

(Morning Tea is provided)

Certificate is presented to those who have completed the training course on the day.
