Description

Developing a Social Enterprise in Not-for-Profits

Making Money while Keeping Your Mission Safe

Not-for-profits have a great opportunity to develop social enterprises that provide targeted sustainable social or environmental good. They can help incubate fledgeling social enterprises by harnessing their infrastructure and networks, so why doesn’t it happen more often?

This event provides a space to share the journey towards the hybrid model that is social enterprise. The content you'll hear is based on recent local PhD research and reflections from practice on how not-for-profits really can develop a social enterprise.

Dr Tricia Fitzgerald, Chair of Social Enterprise Auckland, not-for-profit practitioner and consultant to social enterprises will present. Tricia will be joined by not-for-profit leaders from Lifewise/Merge Café; YWCA /accommodation enterprise and Deaf Aotearoa/ISign. Together they will focus on

  • what developing a social enterprise can mean

  • how an organisation will need to change and how to manage changes

  • how not-for-profits can develop a commercial entity and stay true to mission

  • the key factors of success.

If you are in management of a not-for-profit and wrestling with strategic direction and financial future or you are passionate about how to mix money with mission then this event is for you.

Light refreshments will be provided.

All our speakers are volunteers and any proceeds will go towards developing services for Social Enterprise Auckland members.
