Event description
Connect with like-minded Diversity, Inclusion and Equity leaders on the spotlight that is being shone on neuro-diversity in 2022

About this event

The business case for diversity, inclusion and equity (DI&E) is stronger than ever with teams well on their way to set examples in New Zealand for what good gender and cultural representation should look like. This isn't however, consistent across all organisations and the widening gap between the winners and laggards is starting to show.

An interesting area that is now starting to come to light is the neuro-diversity aspect of the workforce and what is considered 'normal' where 40%+ leaders are neuro-diverse. This LAN event is about how we can set these leaders up for success to continue the good work that is being done in the DI&E space.

Traditionally, 'managing people' has often been based on the science of it, which sees the organisation as a machine and leaders as the parts of this. Such an approach can be a cleaner way to operate in terms of scalability and control, but it can also be at the cost of getting the best out of your leaders and thus producing the best business outcomes. This scientific approach has us writing job descriptions and looking for people to fill particular boxes. And it sometimes has us putting square pegs into round holes, or finding ourselves at a loss when faced with people who don't fit into either in their nature.

This is where the beauty of neuro-diversity comes in.

We're starting to hear that a focus for many of New Zealand's top organisations is supporting their neuro-diverse leaders in 2022. Join us as we explore this terrain together.

Format: a virtually facilitated workshop using JumpShift's popular Diagnose, Inspire, Your Action (DIY) method with the purpose to provoke thinking and promote meaningful action.

The workshop will look like:

  • Welcome and purpose
  • Intro and chance to connect with likeminded DI&E leaders
  • Diagnose your own context & learn from one another
  • Inspire via Anton Ashcroft MD of DivergenThinking & a US based live case study client (TBC)
  • Your Action: Reflect on the insights shared and application within your own context. Stay in touch with peers from other organisations and industries to support one another along the journey.
