Doing Business with the MacKays to Peka Peka Expressway Alliance
Date and time
Description
On Monday 9 December an Open Day for Kapiti businesses will provide information about the opportunities and requirements to work with the MacKays to Peka Peka Alliance (M2PP) who are delivering the Kapiti Expressway section of the Wellington Northern Corridor.
The Wellington Northern Corridor runs from Levin to Wellington Airport and is one of seven roads of national significance that the Government has identified as essential state highways that support economic growth.
This significant investment in regional transport infrastructure will make journeys quicker and safer for people travelling to work, school or to the beach. It will also improve journey times between the ports, the airport and the supermarket shelves in our region and Manawatu’s forests, farms and distribution centres.
The Kapiti Expressway section is being built by the M2PP Alliance, made up of Fletchers, Beca, Higgins and NZ Transport Agency. The Alliance has its headquarters in Paraparaumu on the Kapiti coast and the project presents many opportunities for local business to engage.
The $630 million project will deliver approximately 18km of four-lane expressway through the area of Paraparaumu and Waikanae, including a new bridge over the Waikanae River. It will take four years to build and include:
- 18 bridges including 564 precast beams up to 75 tonnes each.
- 3,000,000 m3 earthworks.
- 2,500,000 tonnes imported aggregate.
- 70,000 m3 concrete. 10,000 tonnes reinforcing steel.
- 45 ha landscape and wetland planting (over one million plants).
- Expected to create approximately 1000 new jobs.
An open day to inform Kapiti businesses of the opportunities and requirements to work on the project will take place at Southward Car Museum on Otaihanga Road from 1.30pm – 5.00pm. The event will include presentations from the M2PP Alliance team and the opportunity to network and ask questions.
Register online by Wednesday 4 December to receive your ticket.
The event is free to all businesses.
