About this event

Simon Martin - Commercial Lawyer - HGM Legal/NZHIT Board Member Presents:

Data

Data is another IP. But there are lots of different types of data. Value in data doesn’t sit in one record but in a collection of records. That value is rapidly lost if the data is not current. Any transaction can contribute to multiple datasets. Those involved in a transaction should consider what datasets are created who owns them and how this might be impacted by IP, privacy, and confidentiality.

About Simon:

Simon is a partner at Hudson Gavin Martin - a specialist corporate commercial law firm that focusses on tech media and IP in growth industries. Simon is an adviser to a number of our NZHIT members and has worked with the tech sector for more than 30 years. He has been a co-opted Board member of NZHIT for more than 5 years and says he is committed to the health tech sector because he believes that unlocking the potential of technology for New Zealand health will enable all of New Zealand to achieve better health outcomes and greater value from the health $.
