Educators New to Aotearoa New Zealand – Hawaiki Hou: New Dawn, Fresh Beginning
Starting your teaching journey in a new country is exciting and challenging. Hawaiki Hou supports educators new to Aotearoa to build cultural confidence, grow inclusive practice, and thrive in local classrooms.
Guided by Te Tiriti o Waitangi, te ao Māori, and the Niho Taniwha framework (Dr Melanie Riwai-Couch), you’ll explore tangata whenuatanga and develop practical skills to create safe, responsive learning environments.
Through the Niho Taniwha inquiry process – Whai, Ako, Mau, Tipu – you’ll move through a cycle of reflection, learning, application, and growth.
